About FRS Iberia

FRS Iberia is the specialist for the Strait of Gibraltar. The company was founded in 2000 by the Flensburger Förde Reederei Seetouristik (FRS); under a single brand, FRS Iberia and Ferrysur operated in Spain and FRS Maroc in Morocco, based in Tarifa, Algeciras and Tanger. In September 2023, Danish DFDS announced the takeover of FRS Iberia/Maroc, which was completed in December 2024. Since then, the routes Algeciras - Tanger Med, Algeciras - Ceuta and Tarifa - Tanger Ville have belonged to the DFDS network, extending it from northern Europe to the Mediterranean; sailings continue under the FRS brand.

Ships and fleet

FRS operates fast ferries and conventional ferries. The fleet includes the fast ferries Algeciras Jet, Ceuta Jet, Levante Jet, Poniente Jet and Tarifa Jet, as well as the ferries Kattegat and Tanger Express, which sails Algeciras - Tanger Med. On board you'll find a cafeteria with sandwiches, snacks and drinks, a duty-free shop with perfumes, cosmetics and chocolate, and a sun deck; halal products are available on all routes.

Routes to Morocco

The main line is Algeciras - Tanger Med: 90 minutes across the Strait of Gibraltar, with at least eleven departures a day, and adjusted timetables during peak season. Tanger Med lies less than an hour east of the city of Tanger. FRS also sails to Ceuta, the Spanish exclave on the Moroccan coast, in around an hour, as well as from Tarifa to the city port of Tanger Ville. On Algeciras - Tanger Med you share the route with Baleària, Naviera Armas and AML - the timetable shows all departures side by side.

Check-in, vehicle and pet

FRS recommends being at the port 90 minutes before departure; online check-in is available from 48 hours before departure. You need a valid passport for Morocco, an ID card is not enough, and with a vehicle or during peak season you should allow extra time because of passport and customs checks. Cars, motorbikes and caravans travel along; you give the vehicle dimensions when booking. Whether and how your pet travels is something to confirm with the ferry company before booking; the entry rules for Morocco are summarised in the Dog & Pet guide.

Tickets

FRS sells tickets online, by phone and at the port counters; changes are possible up to 48 hours before departure. Prices depend on season, vehicle and booking time and are calculated during booking; the price overview gives an indication.
