Ferry Almería - Nador at a glance

Everything about the Almería - Nador ferry with GNV: getting to the port of Almería, check-in and entry documents for Morocco, onboard facilities, vehicle and pet rules, and arrival in Beni Ensar near Nador.

Getting to the terminal in Almería

The ferry departs from the Estación Marítima de Almería at the Muelle Comercial. By car, you reach the port via the A-7 motorway, exit 438; the terminal is well signposted. Without a vehicle, you can travel to the central Estación Intermodal, which combines the train and bus stations and lies just a few minutes from the port. Parking is available at the port for the duration of your trip.

Check-in, ID and entry into Morocco

GNV opens check-in in Almería several hours before departure: with a vehicle, arrive at the terminal around four hours ahead, or around three hours as a foot passenger; check-in closes 60 minutes before departure at the latest. On the return sailing from Nador, it closes two hours before departure. Because Nador is in Morocco, this is an international route: you need a valid original passport - a national ID card is not accepted, and children need their own document. Customs and border checks take place at the port; citizens of the EU, UK, US, Canada and Australia do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.

On board

For the crossing you can choose between reclining seats, inside and outside cabins, and suites; a cabin is worth booking for overnight sailings. On board there is an à la carte restaurant and a self-service buffet with halal dishes, a shop, wifi (Sea-Fi), a children's area and a prayer room. In Morocco you pay in dirham (MAD), a closed currency you can only obtain after arriving in the country; for the Spanish leg of your journey, euros are all you need.

Vehicle, bicycle and pets

Cars, motorbikes, motorhomes and caravans can all travel; give the exact dimensions when booking, including any roof box or bike rack. The vehicle deck stays closed during the crossing, so take everything you need into the passenger area with you. Pets are welcome with GNV: they travel in dedicated pet cabins, with additional outdoor areas on deck. Bring your pet passport and register your pet when booking.

Arrival in Nador and onward travel

The ferry arrives at the port of Beni Ensar, around 13 kilometres from Nador city centre and linked by the N15 national road. Buses and taxis run from the port into town. Beni Ensar sits right at the land border with the Spanish city of Melilla, so this is also a convenient starting point for onward travel into the Rif region and along Morocco's Mediterranean coast.

Tickets and fares

GNV offers the crossing in tiered fares - from the budget Low Cost option through Comfort to the most flexible Flex tariff - which mainly differ in how far ahead of departure you can cancel free of charge. Rebooking is possible before check-in opens for a fixed fee plus any fare difference, but pre-sale tickets cannot be changed. You get the best price by booking early; the booking window shows current fares, and the price overview gives a general idea.
